11 Days Uganda: Discovering the Culture

With its many indigenous tribes, royal heritage, rich traditions, and flavorful cuisine, Uganda is far more than “just” a nature destination. This 11-day journey turns you into a true explorer, as it combines visits to Uganda’s national parks with meaningful encounters that reveal the country’s people, culture, and way of life.

Your introduction to Uganda begins in the capital, Kampala, with an engaging city tour followed by a delicious hands-on cooking class. From food to coffee, the journey continues to the coffee plantations near Sipi Falls, where you will experience some of the freshest coffee imaginable.

Fully enriched by the experience, you will meet the fascinating Karamajong tribe before continuing your journey to the remote Kidepo Valley National Park for a unique walking safari. More walking adventures follow, including a hike to the top of the powerful waterfalls in Murchison Falls National Park and a walk across a swamp in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary. Along the way, you will embrace a simple, low-impact African lifestyle by returning to basics in a village near Kibale National Park. This is truly a journey of discovery and connection.

Is it safe to travel to Uganda?

Uganda is a safe country to visit (yay!). Especially if you want to join organised game drives with private guides, as you will do with us. There are, of course, some places to avoid in big cities like Kampala or Entebbe. But – as with everywhere else in the world – you’ll be fine by taking some precautions. Just some examples to be on the safe side (pun intended): don’t explore the city at night without a driver or guide, keep your valuables close to you, avoid wearing big and visible jewellery and leave some things like passports in the hotel safe.

This is a private and exclusive safari designed to let you travel at your own pace. The journey is tailored specifically to you, exactly according to your preferences. Our experienced travel consultants ensure that every detail aligns with your wishes.

There are many benefits to this personalized experience. To begin with, you will travel in a private safari vehicle accompanied by your own dedicated guide. You have full flexibility to decide when to start your day and when to return, while still benefiting from your guide’s expert advice. Additionally, once inside a national park, you can spend as much time as you wish observing particular animals or herds, without feeling rushed. Finally, with a clear understanding of your interests, your personal guide will offer insightful recommendations, transforming your safari into a truly unforgettable adventure.

At Africa Safari Trips, we focus on designing journeys that are uniquely yours. When you plan your African adventure with us, you’re doing more than booking a holiday—you’re beginning a fully personalized experience. We take the time to understand your ideas and preferences and carefully shape every detail to match your vision. Our team works closely with you to ensure your trip is completely tailored to your expectations. For added ease and inspiration, we also offer a selection of our most popular African tours and safaris as a starting point for customization.

Absolutely—Uganda delivers wildlife encounters beyond expectations. Alongside the iconic Big Five, you’ll have the chance to photograph hyenas, hippos, zebras, the distinctive Ugandan kob, and more than 1,000 bird species in a dazzling array of colors. For primate enthusiasts, Uganda is truly unmatched: its lush forests are home to around 24 monkey species, ranging from nocturnal galagos to striking blue monkeys and the awe-inspiring mountain gorillas.
